My second BetFred £50 free bet was awarded very promptly, and - now having funds to play with in my Betdaq account - I set to work identifying a Champions League bet. I went for a draw between Basle and Shakhtar Donetsk at odds of 3.25 with a corresponding lay of £33.28 at odds of 3.4 (a £79.87 liability). Now, Betfair were offering better lay odds of 3.35, but, with their commission at 5%, I was actually better off laying with Betdaq at the slightly higher odds but a lower 2% commission.
Update (Tuesday, 16 September): Basle 1 : 2 Shakhtar Donetsk, so I lost my free bet, but won £32.61 (£33.28 less £0.67 commission) on the Betdaq exchange, meaning that the overall profit moves to £117.37
